We had our first Zuper Zondag (Super Sunday) today. We were so excited. It’s been something that has been coming for a long time. From now on, we’ll be having a special, evangelistic service on the second Sunday of each month.

We’ve gotten a new puppet stage from BGMC money. We also were given funds by Dallas Dream Center to buy other equipment we needed such as sound equipment and banners.

Our new puppet stage courtesy of BGMC

Besides the service, we break into clubs. Mike taught puppets to some of the children while others made a sheep cupcake. (We were talking about The Lost Sheep.)

Puppet club at Zuper Zondag

We had 30 children for our first time, and we’re excited about reaching even more boys and girls in The Netherlands!

We finished the Arkansas Kids Camp on Friday. We love being/speaking at camps. We always have such a great time and meet so many awesome people. It’s also fun to do the services and have “interesting” characters come out and meet everyone. Here is Mike talking with Polly Esther. I’m not sure, but I’m guessing she’s talking about getting a new man.

We love doing this and are doing it more as a family now that Grace is a little older. She helps us by doing her character, Smiley Iris and by singing with us during the services also.

Now, we’re down to 23 days before leaving. We still have 6 services in Texas and Arkansas before we leave. Our crate is being made that will carry some of our things via a ship, and our suitcases are pretty much packed. We are truly living out of our suitcases now. Someone asked me recently where I am from. That’s a long question to answer usually, but now, we don’t really have a home until we’re back in The Netherlands. I’m ready to go home!

This Sunday we were in North Little Rock and Harrison, Arkansas. Both services were amazing! In North Little Rock, we did the kids’ services on Saturday night and Sunday morning. We’ve known the children’s pastor, Brian Dollar, for several years. He writes curriculum for children’s ministry and blessed us so much! He gave us a copy of everything he’s ever written. We have a vision for doing video-based curriculum in The Netherlands that can then be used throughout Europe. Thank you so much, Brian! This is a picture of where children’s church takes place.

Children's Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas

After going to North Little Rock, we got in the car to drive to Harrison. We were on pace to be there before 5:00 pm. The service started at 6:00 so this was plenty of time…we thought. There was a bad accident on the way, and we were stuck in traffic for over an hour. This was the very first time we have ever been late for a service. We had to set up a puppet stage while the service was already going on. After the service, we got to have a wonderful dinner with the pastor, the children’s pastor and their families. It was really fun until the children’s pastor’s son asked Mike to start doing some of his “special” tricks like touching his nose and chin with his tongue. I’m sure the pastor has never had a meal with a missionary quite like this one! (Actually, the pastor said that he had never had a meal with anyone like that before.)
